ABOUT THE FACULTY OF TEACHER EDUCATION
The Faculty of Teacher Education is the leading institution for educating primary school and preschool teachers in the Republic of Croatia. The Faculty operates at three locations, with the main branch in Zagreb and local branches in Petrinja and Čakovec, totalling approximately 3,000 students.
The Faculty of Teacher Education offers undergraduate, graduate, integrated (undergraduate and graduate) university study programmes, as well as programmes of postgraduate specialization and doctoral programmes in the area of educational sciences. In addition to that, the Faculty also carries out programmes for continuing professional development for teachers working in primary schools.
COURSES
Students from abroad who apply for a study mobility to our Faculty through the Erasmus+ or another exchange programme will have a wide variety of courses offered in English and a few in German to choose from. Below you can find an updated list of courses that we offer to incoming students, as well as the course syllabi.

HOUSING

ASSISTANCE
Erasmus students at the Faculty of Teacher Education will be assigned an Erasmus buddy – also a former Erasmus student – who can assist them with all faculty and non-faculty related issues. Incoming students are also invited to join the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) – Zagreb branch, who organize plenty of activities and field trips all over Zagreb and Croatia.

IMPORTANT DATES
The Winter semester:
- begins in the first week of October / ends in the last week of January / followed by an exam period in February
The Summer semester:
- begins in the first week of March / ends in the first week of June / followed by an exam period in June and the first week of July
Students are kindly invited to arrive in Zagreb one week prior in order to be able to attend the Erasmus Welcome Week organized by the University of Zagreb and ESN Zagreb.
LIVING EXPENSES
Here is a rough guideline of average student living costs in Zagreb. Expenses may vary, depending on the student’s preferences.
Housing & utilities: ~€300-400 / month (small one-bedroom apartment or shared apartment with a separate room)
Food: ~€150 / month. An average meal in student cafeterias using a student card costs ~€2.
Transportation: ~€20 / month with a monthly pass + €7 for a one-time fee to make the pass
Other expenses: ~€150 / month
Total: ~€600€ / month
MasterCard, VISA, Diners Club and American Express are widely accepted in shops, hotels and restaurants. ATMs are common and easy to find in the city and near the Faculty.
Incoming students will get a student card (X-card or Iksica), which they can use to eat in 12 student cafeterias in Zagreb. The nearest two cafeterias are 5 minutes away from the Faculty. The student card also gets you discounts for cinemas, theatres, travel tickets, shops etc. Many more discounts are also available for members of ESN, for example in pastry shops, cafes, restaurants, clubs, shops etc.
