About the Library

The Faculty of Teacher Education at the University of Zagreb features three higher-education libraries in Zagreb, Čakovec, and Petrinja. Organised as constituent units of the Faculty, these libraries execute core library and information-referral activities to support teaching, scientific research, and student coursework. Given that research and instruction span the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, interdisciplinary fields, and the arts, the libraries are tasked with cultivating collections that align with degree programs and the specific requirements of the academic staff.

Mission

The libraries of the Faculty of Teacher Education guarantee their users – predominantly students, as well as research-teaching and non-teaching staff – access to information and library materials commensurate with the demands of their studies and research. In addition, they provide access to information and communication technologies and deliver services designed to elevate the quality of study and enhance general information literacy. The library also extends its services to prospective external users, including professionals within educational institutions, individuals engaged in specialised and scientific research at the University, and members of the wider community whose focus lies within educational and artistic domains. The qualitative development of these collections is bolstered by the Faculty’s internal publications and the degree theses deposited in its digital repository. An elevated standard of library services is actively cultivated through collaboration with cognate libraries and the continuous professional development of the librarians.

Vision

Building upon a robust historical tradition, the libraries of the Faculty of Teacher Education are evolving into central information and communication hubs. These centres provide the resources necessary to facilitate the mediation and exchange of scientific and professional information across diverse media and modern information environments. Simultaneously, they foster a conducive climate for the scientific, intellectual, and creative development of every user, supporting lifelong learning.
