Students select their Primary Teacher Education study programme specialisation track (English Language, German Language, Lifelong Learning and Adult Education) or module (Informatics, Croatian Language, Visual Arts, Educational Sciences) upon entry in the first year of study.
Admission Requirements: Completion of a grammar school (gimnazija) or a four-year secondary school programme, and successful completion of the State Matura examination (for further details, consult the Postani Student portal).
Core Competencies Acquired upon Graduation:
The study programme enables the acquisition of a comprehensive range of generic, specific, and supplementary competencies required for the holistic education of pupils at the primary education level (grades 1 to 4 of elementary school). This programme encompasses all educational modalities (regular, elective, remedial, and advanced classes; extracurricular activities; and cultural and public engagements) and imparts specific competencies for subject-specific teaching in elementary schools, depending on the completed specialisation track or module.
The Curriculum Comprises:
- pedagogical, psychological, and didactical training;
- instruction in core professional disciplines;
- subject-specific teaching methodology training within core disciplines; and
- training within the selected specialisation track or module,
which collectively enable effective practice across all forms of educational work, lifelong learning, educational research, and the systematic organisation and enhancement of the educational process, aligned with contemporary scientific and empirical insights in the field of education.
Graduation Requirements:
Completion of the programme requires a minimum of 300 ECTS credits, fulfilled through:
- the successful completion of all examinations within the curriculum,
- the fulfilment of all other academic obligations,
- the compilation and public defence of a graduate thesis.
Progression Routes:
Upon graduation, qualification holders are eligible to pursue third-cycle postgraduate (doctoral) university study programmes or postgraduate specialist programmes, for which admission may be contingent on passing bridging examinations.

The Master of Primary Education with a Specialisation in Lifelong Learning and Adult Education (mag. prim. educ.) acquires the generic, specific, and supplementary competencies necessary for the holistic education of pupils at the primary education level (grades 1 to 4 of elementary school), augmented by advanced andragogical competencies for the organisation and delivery of instruction within adult education frameworks.
