Application Procedure for First-Year Admissions
Application for first-year admission entails registering for the state matura examinations and is conducted under uniform conditions across all study programmes. Candidates registering for the state matura must apply via the National Information System for Applications to Higher Education Institutions (NISpVU) portal (www.postani-student.hr). This process requires a username, a password (AAI@EduHr electronic identity), and a PIN, which, along with a TAN, is issued by the school registry administrator of the secondary school from which the candidate graduated. A directory of school registry administrators is available at https://ai.skole.hr. For any technical difficulties or inquiries regarding applications, candidates should contact the Central Admissions Office directly at 01/6661-520 (Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00).
STATE MATURA EXAMINATION RESULTS AND STUDY PROGRAMME RANKING LISTS
State matura examination results will be accessible via the www.postani-student.hr portal immediately upon publication. Candidates will also receive notification of their results at their respective secondary schools.
Upon satisfying the state matura prerequisites for the chosen study programme and meeting all additional entry criteria, candidates are placed on the corresponding ranking list. Crucially, admission entitlement is restricted to candidates whose placement falls within the approved enrolment quota. For each selected study programme, candidates can view their total score, a detailed breakdown of points, current rank, admission threshold, admission entitlement status (determined by current rank and the threshold), and initial rank, along with the comprehensive ranking list for that programme.
Candidates who fail to secure immediate admission to a study programme should await the formal conclusion of the procedure. Namely, applicants frequently register for multiple programmes; therefore, a candidate’s selection of a specific programme automatically vacates their position on all other ranking lists, except for the one where enrolment intent is explicitly confirmed.
Pursuant to the Agreement on Incentive Measures for Higher Education Enrolment enacted for Croatian Veterans, Croatian Disabled Homeland War Veterans, the Children of Deceased, Detained, or Missing Croatian Veterans, and the Children of Category I 100% Disabled Homeland War Veterans – concluded by the Ministry of Science, Education, and Sports, the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs, the Ministry of Social Policy and Youth, and the Rectors’ Conference – priority admission rights to higher education institutions are granted to:
- Croatian Homeland War veterans,
- Croatian disabled Homeland War veterans,
- children of deceased, detained, or missing Homeland War veterans, and children of Category I 100% disabled Homeland War veterans,
- candidates with a certified physical impairment (disability) of 60% or higher.
These designated categories of candidates are eligible for direct admission to higher education study programmes outside the standard enrolment quota, provided they pass the state matura examinations required for entry into those programmes.
Supplementary information regarding applications is accessible on the official websites of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia, the Agency for Science and Higher Education, the National Centre for External Evaluation of Education, and the Croatian Academic and Research Network (CARNET).
