Student Progression to Higher Years

1. Progression Requirements for Higher Years of Study

  • Progression to the Second Year: Requires a minimum completion of 50 ECTS credits.
  • Progression to the Third Year: Requires passing all first-year examinations alongside a minimum of 50 ECTS credits accumulated during the second year of study.
  • Progression to the Fourth Year: Requires passing all second-year examinations alongside a minimum of 50 ECTS credits accumulated during the third year of study.
  • Progression to the Fifth Year: Requires passing all third-year examinations alongside a minimum of 50 ECTS credits accumulated during the fourth year of study.

2. Enrolment Procedure for Subsequent Academic Years

  1. Registration is executed via the STUDOMAT platform (accessible from personal computers). The platform displays the applicable tuition fee balance and allows candidates to select the number of payment instalments.
  2. Students must remit the following:
  3. An enrolment fee of €27.00 (applicable to all students).
  4. Tuition fees (either the initial instalment or the full balance) as calculated by the STUDOMAT system, pursuant to the Decision on Student Tuition Fees and Charges for the 2025/2026 Academic Year.
  5. Professional pedagogical training fees (applicable solely to part-time students of the Undergraduate Early Childhood and Preschool Education [RPOO] study programme: €132.72 for the second year of study; €132.72 for the third year of study).

All fees must be deposited into the Faculty of Teacher Education IBAN account: HR9124020061100639639, Model: HR00, Reference Number: Student OIB, Payment Description: ENROLMENT FEES / TUITION FEES / PROFESSIONAL PEDAGOGICAL TRAINING FEES. Each payment must be processed as a separate transaction.

  1. Applicants must complete the enrolment form accessible via the “Upisni list” link, authenticating using their AAI@EduHr credentials (entering the username without the @ufzg.hr domain suffix). It is mandatory to complete all fields, including the designated branch location. The final section of the enrolment form permits the submission of attachments, where the following documents must be appended:
  2. confirmation of the enrolment fee payment (€27.00 for all students);
  3. confirmation of the tuition fee payment (applicable to all part-time students and full-time students liable for tuition fees; the exact balance must be verified within the STUDOMAT platform during registration);
  4. confirmation of the professional pedagogical training fee payment (applicable solely to part-time students of the Undergraduate Early Childhood and Preschool Education study programme: €132.72 for the second year of study; €132.72 for the third year of study).

Transaction confirmations must be uploaded as image files or PDFs. Enrolment cannot be finalised without these attachments explicitly displaying the transaction execution date.

Upon completing the process, all data is automatically transmitted to the Student Registry. The Studomat platform will indicate a fully finalised enrolment status only after the Student Registry has processed it (occurring throughout September). Enrolment processing is suspended during the collective annual leave. Summer operating hours for the Student Registry should be checked on the official website.

NOTE:

Instalment structures are governed by the Decision (applicable exclusively to tuition fees for subsequent years of study):

  • Tuition balances up to €135.00 require a single lump-sum payment.
  • Tuition balances up to €400.00 are payable in two equal instalments.
  • Tuition balances exceeding €400.00 are payable in four equal instalments.
  • Students re-enrolling in the fifth year of the Primary Teacher Education (US) study programme, the third year of the Undergraduate Early Childhood and Preschool Education (RPOO) study programme, or the second year of the Graduate Early Childhood and Preschool Education (RPOO) study programme follow the identical procedure.
  • Students repeating an academic year follow the identical procedure (subsequently visiting the Student Registry Office to register for higher-year courses, provided they meet the prerequisites).
  • Students unable to register independently via the Studomat platform due to prerequisite module restrictions must complete their enrolment in person at the Student Registry Office.

 3. ECTS-Based Tuition Fee Calculation for Progression

Fee liability criteria for subsequent years differ from the academic progression requirements detailed in Section 1. Financial liability parameters are defined as follows:

  • Students who accumulated 55 or more ECTS credits through passed examinations in the preceding academic year (comprising current-year courses, residual courses from previous years, or higher-year advanced courses – the so-called “partial progression”) are exempt from tuition fees. This threshold reflects the total sum of all ECTS credits obtained during that academic year (a minimum of 55), irrespective of the curricular year to which the courses belong.
  • Students who accumulated between 30 (inclusive) and 54 (inclusive) ECTS credits during the preceding academic year shall contribute to tuition costs. The total fee is calculated by multiplying the number of re-registered (i.e., uncompleted) ECTS credits from the preceding academic year by a standard unit rate of €15.93.
  • Students who accumulated fewer than 30 ECTS credits during the preceding academic year are liable for the maximum tuition fee.

Case Example:

For instance, an applicant who secures progression to the second year of study with 52 ECTS credits meets the academic progression requirements (exceeding the 50 ECTS threshold) but incurs fee liability because they fall below the 55 ECTS exemption baseline. The fee corresponds to the differential between total registered and uncompleted ECTS credits; if 60 ECTS credits were registered in the first year, the student is billed for the 8 outstanding ECTS credits (60 registered ECTS credits minus 52 completed ECTS credits equals 8 uncompleted ECTS credits).
