About the Music Scene
The Music Scene of the Faculty of Teacher Education was established on 24 January 2006 by a decision of the Faculty Council, following a proposal by Tomislav Vrandečić, Arts Advisor. It was conceived as a concert series featuring performances by emerging domestic and established international musical artists, as well as students and academic staff from the Faculty’s Chair of Arts. The programme is primarily designed for students of the Faculty of Teacher Education, the wider University of Zagreb student body, and the broader cultural public of the City of Zagreb.
Alongside its educational component, the strategic aim of the Music Scene is to showcase the artistic output of the Chair of Arts and the Faculty of Teacher Education to the University and the wider community. It also seeks to foster future primary and preschool teachers’ cultural sensibility toward high-quality musical expression. The attainment of these objectives is facilitated by institutional cooperation with domestic and international higher education institutions and other cultural entities that promote musical creativity through artistic programs.
An added dimension of the Music Scene is the Faculty’s partnership with Croatian Radio Television (HRT), which has been active since 2013. This collaboration focuses on strengthening students’ cultural competencies by promoting classical and jazz music alongside HRT’s professional orchestras, while reinforcing the public mandate of both institutions.
