Purpose and Objectives
The Laboratory was established with the aim of:
- promoting research excellence in the field of educational linguistics as a multi- and interdisciplinary field;
- developing and introducing innovative approaches, methods and instruments in scientific research;
- deepening knowledge of the relationship between language and education;
- preparing and submitting scientific research and international project proposals;
- implementing approved projects;
- enhancing the competencies of early-career researchers;
- connecting scientific research with educational practice;
- promoting intra- and inter-institutional as well as international cooperation;
- enhancing the research excellence of the Faculty of Teacher Education.
Areas of Activity
The Laboratory’s activities focus on topics such as:
- language and educational policy/system;
- language policy in education;
- bilingual and multilingual education (CLIL, BE, EMI);
- language and literacy/literacies, including disciplinary literacies;
- the language of textbooks;
- learners of Croatian as a foreign/additional language and heritage speakers of Croatian in the educational system;
- students’ language and communication competence and language identity;
- teachers’ language knowledge, attitudes and skills;
- lifelong education, language assessment and evaluation.
