Mission
Through its diverse university degree programs, the Faculty of Teacher Education equips future primary teachers and preschool educators with the skills they need to succeed. We actively shape subject-teacher training and offer advanced postgraduate and lifelong learning pathways designed to enhance the professional and academic expertise of all educational stakeholders. The Faculty conducts, advances, and encourages scientific research and artistic creativity across the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, arts, and interdisciplinary fields, fostering innovation and digital transformation to enhance the quality of education.
Through its activities, the Faculty contributes to the design and development of educational policies and practices, the promotion and sustainable development of the primary and preschool teaching profession, and public engagement with science and the arts, responding directly to the contemporary needs of the education system. A multidisciplinary team of nationally and internationally recognised experts and early-career researchers safeguards the Faculty’s academic and scientific excellence and fosters collaboration with partners across Croatia, Europe, and around the world.
Student-centred learning and teaching foster student well-being and the holistic development of their potential. Combined with internationalisation and the promotion of the European dimension in education, this approach empowers future primary and preschool teachers to engage in active, responsible professional practice. In this way, the Faculty makes a significant contribution to the development of an open, inclusive, and sustainable education system and society as a whole.
